FlemingCNC is a small family run business run by two brothers Todd and Brett. Between the two brothers and their father, Paul, we have been playing with CNC machines of one type or another for many years. When the Mendel design first hit the scene in late 2009 it didn't take us long to realize the potential of CNC machinable Mendel. Our goal was and still is to lower the cost of RepRap 3D printers and make them easier to build and use. That is why we started FlemingCNC.
A few years back Todd began creating his own embedded controller for the Mill for the fun of it. His PhD program got the best of him and work stopped for some time. Some of Todd early CNC efforts are hinted at here.
Not long afterwards Brett began working with dad to build a CNC controlled router for the wood shop. The first one was 100% homegrown and worked well. But about a year went by and upgrades were due.
Last year we completed a full-up Joe's CNC Hybrid pushing 200ipm rapids and 100ipm feeds. Granted we cut Isaac parts much slower to not break the smaller bits.
Brett graduated Virginia Tech in 1997 majoring in Computer Engineering. Has been working in the Aerospace industry for the last 10 years working some really trick projects such as the X-31, GlobalHawk, and C-130Js. Hobbies include rebuilding vehicles, trying to fly RC Helicopters, and building/running CNC machines.
